Examining what it means to be a body in an unstable world and how this might be responded to through alternate cosmologies, Laura Robertson uses installation, sculpture and events as a means of embracing the incomprehensible and staging alternatives outside popular paradigms. Bodies, Sphinx icons and meme culture are blended into prop like forms, characters and costumes; allowing for multiple people and objects to overlap as protagonists of the same story.

Currently undertaking a series that uses the fluidity of geology as a stand in to challenge wider ideas such as monumentalism and hierarchical structures Robertson is collaborating with other artists — culminating, amongst other things, in a limited edition work funded by The Poorhouse Reading Rooms, Dorset and an exhibition supported by The Plough Arts Centre, Great Torrington.

Robertson worked with the Freud Museum for solo project, a-visit-through-the-window in 2020 and exhibited at the Royal Society of Sculptors for Space Lapse, 2021. In 2022 the artist created alLwhoopee, for Gallery333 at Exeter Phoenix Gallery and organised Undercut, a British Art Show fringe event in Plymouth.
