The language of the underland

Work installed in an empty retail premises.
Only cats were invited.

Ceramic, plaster, paper mache, raw clay, sand, found objects.

Positioned outside the gates of the city, the Sphinx is liminal – an outsider, both protector and monster. The Sphinx is a riddle. She perverts semiotics and language. In the story of Oedipus, the Sphinx is pre oedipal – pre language. She speaks in a questioning voice, the language of the underland.
